We have been studying the disappearance of honeybees due to a phenomenon called CCD (Colony Collapse Disorder). Due to many factors (use of pesticides, overbuilding, infection by pests…), hives are being abandoned and bees are dying in record numbers.Our use of translucent paper bees is meant to represent the ghostly spirits of the healthy bees that once lived in this hive – a hive that is now empty with the mere shadows of the creatures that once thrived there.
